Long time, no post

yeah, I know.  I know.  My desktop has had some ridiculous special needs as of late. 
And posting on the blog was a nightmare.  So I just didn't do it.  Then there was this thing called Christmas.  Got that overwith, but I am up and running with a NEW LAPTOP!! 

Mom & Dad Claus gave it to me.  Know how that happened?  I was looking at OLD pictures of my childhood and I half jokingly told my parents, "hey, buy me a laptop and I will get all these pictures into digital form for you."  And there it was on Christmas Eve, a laptop, in a box, FOR MY SISTER!!  Mine arrived last night. 

wow.  I tried telling them if they bought me a new vehicle, I would drive their groceries home for them, but I think my stroke of luck ended with the laptop, because I have the same white Suburban in the garage. 

The next item on the agenda is to get a card reader for my camera's compact flash card, and I wll be back in business. 

Geo-Whiz

He won the Geography Bee at school.  Got a globe to show for it.  Today he takes the test to see if he qualifies for the State Geo Bee. 

And this year the questions were HARD.  Last year they seemed easy (for me), but this time 'round, yikes, I was stumped.

It's hard to find a way to display something from scripture without a BIble-thumping feel, but I think Susan has it figured out.

Here is my lonely Christmas card rack.  Please give this well-organized family some friends with which to spend the holidays.  And be sure to include a picture.  

This family is the FIRST to send us a card.  In fact, they were the FIRST friends we made here in Utah.  And every year, like clockwork, early in December, their card flies into our mailbox and onto our wall.  And then they are forced to sit there in lonesome silence until the rest of our acquaintances get their game on.  It's usually a good week till they have some company.  

Aren't they gorgeous?  Don't they have great hair?  We share the same hair-Diva.  Sarah @ SunKissed Designs.  

So, get your priorities straight and get a move on your cards (don't forget the picture, you can hide behind your kids all you skinny ones!!).  In the meantime, here the Swint family will rest.  And btw, nice placement of the Ute football, NICK-OH-LAS!!

From time to time, the kids will write their Grandpa Paolo or their Nonna a letter.  Of course, after they have received a gift from them, they send a thank-you note (we try to at least).  And I find it curious how, a few weeks before their birthdays, they will think to write a letter to let Grandpa and Nonna how excited they are for their impending celebration.  Hmmm. 

Sometimes, the kids will write their letters, seal and address them, then hand them to me to post.  At first I did not find this to be a problem.  Matter of fact, I found it to be quite charming and responsible of the children to do all the work for me. 

Until the next time I visited CA. 

And then I saw Grandpa and Nonna's collection of our children's letters on their fridges.  And I was able to see just what those little twits of ours had written in those letters they had written and sealed up on their own. 

Oh my goodness.  Children really write what they are thinking, and they don't always use discretion.

Here's one that almost got away today.  It's from Nolan.  I will probably still send it, because I'm not sure how to break it to him, but how embarassing(?)  The kid listed a Christmas wish list totaling well over the $300 mark.  I guess I should be thankful he didn't actually itemize it with prices and a 'where to buy' list.
