Mike sent me out on my own today, armed with $100*, to Costco. The goal was to procure football foods, and some household necessities. I knew I would be up against the Super Bowl prep crowd, but I wasn't alarmed. See, I lived in CA for 8 of my married years. Shopping at Costco in the bay area and shopping at Costco in Salt Lake are very, very different.
Shopping at Costco in the bay area is almost akin to going to the Super Bowl, crowd-wise. You can expect to park in the parking spots so far away from the store they ought to provide a people mover (think Disneyland parking lot). While inside a bay area Costco store, fully understand that you WILL get your heels ran over by someone's cart. <--Check your personal space at the door. 15 people WILL jump in front of you to sample a pita chip. Your child WILL need to use the restroom just as you jockey your cart into a line that might ONLY be a 15 minute wait.
Shopping at Costco in Salt Lake today was a breeze. I parked IN the lot. Sampled food, nobody cut in front of me, but trust me, there was not a morsel wasted - I mean c'mon it's Utah and it's free. I had no children along that needed a tinkle stop. AND as if that wasn't heaven in a shopping cart, the longest line was only 2 people deep! I even let the lady with one item (who can do Costco for ONE thing?) go ahead of me. From start to finish, I was in and out within an hour.
Now doesn't that just make you want to up n move on out here? Mike's a realtor, we can help with that! Totally kidding, ok, well, how about partially kidding? No really, I just was thinking about how different one place is from the next. Not that one is better then the other, it's just a WHOLE different experience is all. Costco in Japan? That's a whole 'nother post. Do I have a guest blogger volunteering for this??
*when we owned the bars in CA we would spend a minimum of $400 twice a week. That REALLY made the Costco rewards, well, rewarding!
p.s. I have chocolate cake & ice cream, veggie trays, Yoshida soaked meatballs, Que Bueno & chips (Mike's request), homemade bagel bites, pizza dip & Pioneer Woman buffalo wings for the game. Can somebody say S-A-L-T-Y?? I better grab something fruity to round it out:)
