When I was younger, I spent a lot of time with the Jeppson's. They had a daughter about my age and we had fun doing stuff. In fact my first trip to Disneyland was with them. That's right, not my parents, but the Jeppson's. My parents claim that they took me as a wee one. Convenient, I think, to tell me that I was too young to remember. But I do not believe them, because if they DID take me to D-land there would be pictures, right? Right?
I went on many trips with the Jeppson's. And everywhere I went with them, I signed guest books. My name, THEIR address. Even when I was not with the Jeppson's I signed up for things. My name, THEIR address. I even changed it up when they moved clear out to McAbee Lane in Almaden (traitors), and used their new address. For years after, they would receive mail with my name on it. Free cones from Baskin Robbins on my birthday, 'free' gym memberships, donations to the fire depratment, you name it. They got it. I even included their phone number on some of them. At first I think they got a kick out of it, but after like 10 years, I'm sure it became annoying.
It's come full circle now. Jeppson's don't know it, but I met my match. Last year I sprained a finger gripping the wad of holiday catalogs in from the mailbox. I could not believe how many I received. Could it be a result of my shopping hobby? That's totally in remission by the way.
This year I have decided to keep count of ALL the holiday catlaogs I receive, beginning with the day after Halloween. Halloween just seemed like a good starting point, although it was probably the first week of October that my mailbox began compiling the excess goods.
I plan on updating weekly. And if I can stay organized, I might even keep them all for a weigh in at the end of the season. I just need to designate a box to dump them in. I will also keep track of which catalogs actually get some busy-ness form me as a result of their mailer.
